A committee set up by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to find solutions to banditry and other security challenges in the state has indicted top military officers and traditional rulers for complicity in the spate of violence that has killed more than 6,000 people in the last 10 years.

16 persons murdered by bandits in Zamfara on Sallah day

Bandits were said to have allegedly killed 16 persons in Kanoma District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara on Sallah day.

Confirming the attack in a press statement  in Gusau on Wednesday, the Director-General on Media to the state governor, Yusuf Idris, said  “the governor visited the community and sympathised with them”.

11,000 people murdered in 8 yrs by Zamfara bandits – Marafa

A member of the National Assembly, Senator Kabiru Marafa (Zamfara Central) has put the total number of lives lost to armed  banditry in Zamfara State since 2011 at 11, 000.

Marafa who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), in a statement yesterday declared that the unfortunate and dark eight years of banditry from 2011 to date in the state had conservatively led to the killing of over 11,000 male adults

He added that the killings left behind an estimated average of 22,000 widows and an estimated 44,000 orphans.

Bloodbath continues in Zamfara, bandits kill 50

At least 50 people, including several members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), in Zamfara State have been killed in Kaura Namoda by rampaging bandits.
This is coming on the heels of a robust security action plan tagged, ‘Operation Puff Adder’ launched by the Ag. Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu aimed at flushing out criminal elements across some states of the federation, Zamfara inclusive.

Electoral materials seized in Zamfara

Two vehicles carrying election materials to Sokoto were separately intercepted in Gusaum, capital of Zamfara state capital on Tuesday afternoon.

One of the vehicles was engage in an accident when it collided with two motorcycles along Sokoto road while the other was intercepted near Faru, a border town in Sokoto from Zamfara.
