Zambia Suspends Political Campaigns Amid Covid-19 Surge

Zambia has announced a raft of measures, including suspending political rallies for the 12 August election, to deal with a surge in Covid-19 infections following an alarming increase in numbers.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that in the last 24 hours, the southern African nation has recorded 48 deaths from Covid-19 – the highest toll the country has reported.

Simon Miti, secretary to the cabinet, told a media briefing that in the last 24 hours out of 12,928 tests, 3,026 were found to be positive for Covid-19.

Police in Zambia summoned the father identified as George Bester, to appear for ”Investigations” after a video of him beating his son had gone viral.

The angry dad was seen in the video continuously slapping his son for failing major courses in school while passing music after he paid $21k (N8million) school fees.

In the video, which was probably recorded in some years back and recently surfaced online, the angry father is seen slapping the boy for wasting N8m school fees.

Amuneke Applies For Zambia National Team Job

Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has applied for the vacant Zambia national team, the Chipolopolo head coach job

Amuneke, who scored both goals in the Super Eagles 2-1 win against the Chipolopolo in the final of the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations last managed the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
