FG Wants El-Zakzaky To Die In Detention – Shi’ite Group

Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as ‘Shi’ites’ have raised the alarm that Nigerian government is not willing to release their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky ‘but wants him to die in detention’.

A disciple of the religious preacher and national president of the association of Shi’ite singers called ‘ Ittihadus Shu’ara Harakatil Islamiyya’, Malam Mustafa Umar Gadonkaya made the allegation over the weekend during the lunching of 100 songs in solidarity of the detained sheikh composed by the association.

The Department of State Security (DSS) said yesterday that the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, opted to be remanded in DSS custody.

It said contrary to the belief in many quarters that they were held by DSS against their will,  the trio chose the custody of the agency instead of Kuje Prison.

The Kaduna State High Court has freed nine members of the Sheikh El-Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites arrested following the proscription order by the Kaduna State Government in 2016.

The nine shi’ites members, including two women, were arrested precisely three years ago while on their way to attend the Islamic religious rite of Ashura mourning in Kaduna and have been in detention since 2016.

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat Tuesday arrived in India.

El-Zakzaky and Zeenat left Nigeria Monday evening around 6:45 pm for India for medical check-up aboard Emirate flight flight EK786 at about 6:45 pm en route Dubai to Mumbai, India.

A Kaduna State High Court has set aside August 5, 2019, to rule on the bail application filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat.

El-Zakzaky’s lawyer Femi Falana filed the application on behalf of his clients on July 18, seeking permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Falana said the Shiites leader’s health was getting worse by the day.

He stated that only a foreign medical treatment was required to stabilise the couple’s health condition.
