Wife Of Boko Haram/ISWAP Leader, Zainab Usman, Arrested

The Nigerian Army says its troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), have announced the arrest of Zainab Usman, wife of a Boko Haram/ISWAP leader.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement on Sunday, made the announcement in an update on the war against Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists.

He disclosed that Joint Tactical Team deployed to Borno and Yobe States apprehended Zainab, a Boko Haram female recruiter, “at Modu Sulemri area of Abujan Talakawa Ward of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council”.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, has stated that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) supported Nigeria’s closure of its land borders because it understood that the action was not punitive.

Fuel Subsidy To Gulp ₦450bn In 2020 – Zainab Ahmed

The Minister for Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, says under-recovery of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly referred to as fuel subsidy, will gulp ₦450bn in 2020.

She said this on Monday in Abuja, at the public presentation of the 2020 budget proposals.

Ahmed said it was called ‘under-recovery’ because it was the cost of operation of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

“We have a provision for under-recovery of PMS in the sum of ₦450bn. If you look at the Budget office’s website, it is in the fiscal framework, which is an annexure to the budget.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama yesterday expressed Nigeria’s appreciation to Saudi Arabian authority for releasing Zainab Aliyu, who was held for alleged drug trafficking offence.

Miss Aliyu, a student of the Maitama Bello University, Kano, and Ibrahim Abubakar, who were erroneously accused of importing banned substances to Saudi Arabia, were found to have been implicated by a syndicate at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), in Kano.
