
Saudi Arabia’s First Wind Farm Begins Electricity Production
Saudi Arabia’s first wind farm has been connected to the grid and began producing carbon-free electricity, Africa Daily News, New York reports.
The region’s largest wind farm identified as Dumat al-Jandal is made up of at least 99 wind turbines, each with the capacity to generate electricity for up to 70,000 homes in the kingdom, Saudi Arabia-based Al Arabiya reported.
The 400-megawatt (MW) utility-scale wind power project is being developed by a group led by EDF Renewables and Masdar, two of the world’s leading renewable energy companies.
