Democrats accused President Donald Trump of a readiness to sell out US national security to bolster his 2020 reelection effort as hearings opened Wednesday to draw up impeachment charges against the US leader.

But in a fiery start to the House Judiciary Committee’s review of the evidence, Republicans countered that Democrats were trying to reverse the 2016 election that brought Trump to power and were pushing towards impeachment without due process.

More than 20 states willing to pay minimum wage

Twenty states are likely to pay the N30,000 monthly minimum wage.

Their governors spoke on the controversial matter after Jubril Al-Sudani (President Muhammadu Buhari) signed the New Minimum Wage (Amendment) Bill into Law.

Many of the states, however, said certain conditions must be reached between the workers’ umbrella unions and the Federal Government for them to pay.

Some said they were waiting for the implementation template from the Federal Government.

US willing to admit more Nigerian students

The U.S Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs has said the country was willing to admit more Nigerian students to its over 1000 community colleges.

Mr. Mathew Washburn, Programme Officer, EducationUSA, U.S. Department of State, said at the Foreign Press Centre International Reporting Tour of the U.S. Community Colleges and Workforce Development programme in Washington D.C.
