Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Why FG Must Review Welfare

Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang has appealed to the Federal Government to use the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day to review the welfare of serving officers and men as well as retirees, “including dead benefits and wellbeing of surviving families”.

He also said as the Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, the Committee will initiate and engage necessary legislative interventions to further equip and empower the Armed Forces “to effectively undertake and deliver on their clearly defined constitutional responsibility”.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday inaugurated newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen for the 16 local government councils in the state, with a charge that they must make themselves accessible to the people.

The Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has pledged enhanced welfare for National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

TUC urges FG to pay more attention to workers’ welfare

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) in Bayelsa, has urged the federal and state governments to pay more attention to workers’ well-being and security in the efforts to build a stronger nation.
