Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has drawn a battle line right up to the White House.

US Officials Warn Against “COVID-19 Parties”

Officials in the northwestern US state of Washington on Wednesday expressed concern over reports of people organizing “COVID-19 parties” to intentionally spread the virus.

“Gathering in groups in the midst of this pandemic can be incredibly dangerous and puts people at increased risk for hospitalization and even death,” warned John Wiesman, the state’s secretary of health.

“Furthermore, it is unknown if people who recover from COVID-19 have long-term protection,” he said.

The United States-led coalition forces in Iraq withdrew on Sunday from a military base in the country’s north that nearly launched Washington into an open war with neighbouring Iran.

The K1 airbase is the third site coalition forces have left this month, in line with the US plans to consolidate its troops in two locations in Iraq.

Teen Who Pushed Friend Off Washington Bridge Sentenced

The Washington teenager who pleaded guilty to pushing her friend off a 60-foot bridge will spend just two days behind bars.

Taylor Smith was sentenced to two days in jail and 38 days on a county work crew after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment last week, according to The Columbian. She must also pay a fine of $300 and has been prohibited from talking to the victim for two years.

The 19-year-old was caught on a 10-second video pushing Jordan Holgerson, then 16, off the bridge at Moulton Falls after her friend said she didn’t want to jump.
