Presidency Warns Against Civil War

The Presidency on Wednesday called on all leaders and parties to moderate their utterances to avert a repeat of the mistakes that led to civil war in the country in 1967.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made the call in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, war serves as a potent warning on the dangers of aggressive regionalism, ethnic baiting and political corruption.

The Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi, on Friday declared that students’ union is not a vehicle to intimidate fellow students and members of the public.

Adebiyi made this declaration while speaking during the swearing in ceremony of the Students’ Union executives and Students’ Representative Council held at the North Campus Assembly Hall of the institution.

Amotekun: Don’t Betray Yorubas –Ooni of Ife, Warns Security

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Thursday warned personnel who will be working with the new security outfit, Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), popularly known as Amotekun, not to betray the interest of Yoruba land.

Ogunwusi gave this warning during the launching of Amotekun by the governors of the South West region.

Magu Warns Illegal Oil bunkerers In Niger Delta

The acting Chairman of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has warned illegal oil bunkerers in the Niger Delta region to desist from oil theft and economic sabotage.  

He gave the warning yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while addressing the media.  According to him, illegal oil bunkering is a terrible leakage of the economy and the EFCC would not relent in fighting it.

US Vs Iran: America Warns Its Citizens In Nigeria

The US has advised its citizens in Nigeria to be mindful of their surroundings and be security conscious following the killing of Iranian army Chief, Qassem Soleimani and the rising tensions in the Middle East.

In a statement published on its website, the US Embassy in Nigeria also cautioned American citizens to maintain low profile and take personal security measures across the world.

The embassy advised US nationals to stay alert in public places, including schools, hospitals, government facilities, places of worship, tourist locations, and transportation hubs.
