542 Nigerians Stranded In UAE Returned Home

About 542 Nigerians who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been successfully evacuated and returned to their homes.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the returnees were received on Sunday by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

They arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja via a Max Air chartered flight at 4:29 a.m.

The citizens comprised 79 males, 460 females, and three infants, according to a statement by NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel.

They were screened by health officials, profiled by various relevant agencies, and cleared by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

The United Kingdom has reopened its visa centres across Nigeria, after announcing their closures on the 21st of October 2020, due to the #EndSARS protest that engulfed the nation.

A statement released on Monday, said: “Our TLS contact Visa Application Centres are now open in Nigeria. Following the recent closures, we are working hard to process all outstanding applications.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding”.

Nigeria Exempts US Citizens From Paying Charges For VISA

The US Government threatened to stop issuance of entry visas to Nigerians if the policy was not immediately reversed for its citizens.

Nigeria To Increase Visa Categories From 6 To 79

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to expand categories of visas issued to foreign citizens intending to visit Nigeria from six to 79 classes of visas under the 2020 Visa Policy to be approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
