U.S. Sues Village For Religious Discrimination

 

The United States Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Village of Walthill in Nebraska for alleged religious discrimination against a church.

In a statement released on Thursday, it stated that Walthill denied Light of the World Gospel Ministries, a nondenominational and multi-ethnic Christian body, a permit to construct a new church building.

The department alleged that in the same period the village approved construction of a library, an education centre and other nonreligious places of gathering in the locality.

Boko Haram fighters have attacked Kwaranglum village in Borno State, killed six people and reportedly abducted two women.

Residents told NAN that the incident occurred on Christmas eve, throwing the whole community into pandemonium.

Kwaranglum is about a kilometre to Chibok town, Headquarters of Chibok Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State.

Fire Razes Heritage Village In Makurdi

A mysterious fire on Tuesday night razed the entire residential and office buildings at the premises of the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) commonly known as Heritage Village off New International Market Road, Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

More than 50 polar bears have gathered on the edge of a village in Russia’s far north, environmentalists and residents said, as weak Arctic ice leaves them unable to roam.

The Russian branch of the World Wildlife Fund said climate change was to blame, as unusually warm temperatures prevented coastal ice from forming.
