UN Sec-General Set To Visit Nigeria, Other African Countries

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has concluded plans to visit Nigeria as well as several other West African countries commencing from something around this weekend.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the visit would be to highlight the consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the African continent.

‘According to UN official sources, following trips this week to Russia and Ukraine, Guterres would arrive Saturday evening in Senegal for an official visit on May 1 and 2.

He expected to be in Niger until May 3 before finishing his tour in Nigeria on May 3 and 4 …

The Government of the United Kingdom has revealed that it would deploy its Sky Sabre air defence system to Poland to support ongoing operations in Ukraine.

Britain said it would also deploy along with it, 100 troops to operate it.

The UK Ministry of Defence said this after the Polish government had requested the anti-air warfare system.

US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken has disclosed that there are ‘very credible reports of deliberate attacks’ on civilians in Ukraine by Russian soldiers and the US would take action at the appropriate time.
