Recapitalisation: NIA Urges Operators On Use Of Extension

The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has urged insurers to take advantage of the recapitalisation extension recently announced by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to prepare well for the exercise.

The Director General of NIA, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, who made this appeal in a statement while commenting on recent developments on the sector’s recapitalisation initiative noted that by the extension, some of the initial challenges thrown up by the first date have been addressed hence, operators now have sufficient time to comply with the directive instead of having to go into the exercise without adequate preparation and diligent execution.

Ban On Petrol Supply: FG Urges Border To Exercise Patience

The Federal Government has appealed to those living in border communities to exercise more patience over the suspension of fuel supply to their areas.

NAN recalls that the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in November 2019, announced the suspension of petrol and diesel supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres radius to all Nigerian borders.

The people of the area have since been complaining that the policy is having adverse effect on them; saying it has paralysed economic activities in their areas.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is urging countries like France to suspend taxes on global computing giants such as Google and Amazon and wait for a negotiated agreement on international taxation, according to a letter released Wednesday.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has advised firms in the oil and gas industry to brace up for the full automation of operations at oil rigs.
