Court Kicks Out Ebonyi State Governor Umahi And His Deputy

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday directed the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi and his deputy, Mr Eric Igwe, to vacate their seats as the sitting governor and deputy respectively.

The court gave the ruling on the grounds that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the election on March 2019 and not its candidate. The court held that having defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Umahi and his deputy cannot transfer the mandate of the PDP to the APC.

Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi on Friday assured Godwin Obaseki will be re-elected Governor of Edo state.

He said nothing will stop the Governor’s re-election because he has done well and deserves to continue in office.

Obaseki is a member of the All Progressive Congress(APC) while Umahi is a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Umahi Presents ₦178bn Budget For 2020

David Umahi of Ebonyi on Friday, presented a budget of ₦178.1 billion for 2020 to the state House of Assembly. The budget was lower than the 2019 figure of ₦188.4billion.

Umahi while presenting the budget, tagged ‘budget of growth, consolidation, and transformation, expressed appreciation to the House and other critical stakeholders who ensured the effective implementation of the 2019 budget.

The governor said that the budget has a recurrent expenditure of N46.08 billion representing 25.8 per cent and capital expenditure of N132 billion representing 74.1 percent.

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Monday swore in 14 new Permanent Secretaries for the state’s Civil Service.

The governor, at a ceremony held at the Government House, Abakaliki urged the appointees to discharge their duties creditably in line with the vision of the state.

According to reports from the inauguration, the 14 new Permanent Secretaries were in addition to the 12 who are already discharging their duties effectively.
