NATO Chief Hints At When Ongoing War In Ukraine Would End

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has in an interview published Sunday by the German daily newspaper Bild,  warned that the ongoing war in Ukraine could last ‘for years’, while reiterating calls for Western countries to provide long-term support to Kyiv.

‘We must be prepared for this to last for years,’ the secretary-general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization said.

‘We must not weaken in our support of Ukraine, even if the costs are high — not only in terms of military support but also because of rising energy and food prices.’

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, declared on Friday that visas for Russians will be introduced on July 1, almost four months after Moscow invaded his country.

Russian Major General, Roman Kutuzov was on Sunday killed in eastern Ukraine, a Russian state media journalist confirmed on Monday morning. 

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Kutuzov’s death joins a long list of a string of high-ranking military casualties sustained by Moscow.

An estimated 11 Russian generals have died in the war.
