542 Nigerians Stranded In UAE Returned Home

About 542 Nigerians who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been successfully evacuated and returned to their homes.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the returnees were received on Sunday by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

They arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja via a Max Air chartered flight at 4:29 a.m.

The citizens comprised 79 males, 460 females, and three infants, according to a statement by NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel.

They were screened by health officials, profiled by various relevant agencies, and cleared by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its travel ban on Nigeria, a development which has caused Emirate airlines to announce that it would resume flights into the country on June 23.

A statement from Dubai Media Office said passengers from Nigeria are expected to have received a negative result for a PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure.

Passengers are also expected to present a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code from laboratories approved by the Nigerian government, while also undergoing the same test upon arrival at the Dubai airport.

Nigerian Navy Launches New Warship In UAE

The Nigerian Navy (NN) has announced the launching of a new Landing Ship Tank (LST) at Damen Shipyard, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

This announcement was contained in a statement available to newsmen in Abuja by Nigerian Navy Spokesman, Commodore Suleman Dahun, on behalf of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo.

He stated that the construction of the ship began about two years ago and when commissioned, would replace the first set of LSTs of the NN, NNS AMBE, and NNS OFIOM which have been decommissioned.

COVID-19: UAE Prime Minister Injected With Trial Vaccine

The Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Tuesday, disclosed that he was injected with COVID-19 trial vaccine produced by the UAE medical teams.

@HHShkMohd, who shared this on Twitter with a photo of a health worker injecting him, said the teams worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available.

As world leaders gathered at the United Nations, the United Arab Emirates laid out its vision for religious harmony, unveiling plans for an interfaith complex in the country’s capital that will house a mosque, a church and a synagogue.

Commissioned by the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, The Abrahamic Family House will serve as a place of individual worship but also for inter-religious dialogue and exchange.
