Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Nigeria will vigorously engage the U.S. government to remove her name from its blacklist of countries over concern on religious freedom, the report says.

It also stated that the Nigerian government has also expressed its displeasure to the U.S. government on this development.

The U.S. has surpassed the grim milestone of 100,000 coronavirus deaths, the world’s highest.

It reached the mark on Tuesday night as figures rolled in from the states.

John Hopkins University estimated the death toll at 98,902 deaths as at 01:30GMT on Wednesday.

But data company Dadax which runs worldometers.info said 100,579 people have died.

On Tuesday alone, fresh infections were 19,049 , while fresh deaths were 774.

U.S. caseload of infections is now 1,725,275 and still counting.

A team of researchers from eight institutions in China and the U.S. has offered a fresh insight into why 85 patients died of multiple organ failure after suffering severe COVID-19.

All individuals whose data the team studied received care at either the Hanan Hospital or the Wuhan Union Hospital between January 9 and February 15, 2020.

The researchers came from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital in Beijing, and the University of California – Davis and six other institutions.

Their study uncovered a series of factors that the majority of these patients shared.

U.S. Jobless Claims Rise To 205,000

A report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday revealed that the number of initial jobless claims in the United States had risen to 205,000.

According to the report, the number of people filing for U.S. unemployment benefits increased by 2,000 to 205,000 from the previous week’s revised figure in the week ending February 8.

Meanwhile, the previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 202,000 to 203,000, the bureau noted.

The report also showed that the four-week moving average of initial claims, a method to iron out data volatility, remained flat at 212,000.
