Trump threatens to increase tariff on Chinese goods

US President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the United States would raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25 percent this week, because trade talks are moving “too slowly.”

Trump’s action came as a major Chinese delegation is expected to arrive Wednesday in Washington for the latest round of talks to end the trade war between the world’s two biggest economies — a round billed as the last one and possibly leading to a deal to end the conflict.

“For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA of 25% on 50 Billion Dollars of High …

Asylum Case: Trump issues new directives

US President Donald Trump has directed his administration to charge fees for asylum claims and handle cases within 180 days, the White House said in a statement Monday night.

The announcement came as Trump blasted what he described as the United States’ “weak, ineffective and dangerous” immigration laws on Twitter.

The memo outlined other changes including charging asylum seekers to file work permit applications, and barring people who enter the US illegally — or attempt to — from receiving temporary work permits before being approved for relief.

Trump sues banks to stop Congress probing his accounts

US President Donald Trump, along with his family and businesses, on Monday sued Deutsche Bank and Capital One in an attempt to stop them from complying with Congressional subpoenas issued as part of a probe into foreign political influence.

The subpoenas — which the Trumps described in their suit as “intrusive and overboard” — were issued to several banks by the Democratic-majority House’s intelligence and financial services committees, which are looking into the president’s finances as part of a larger probe into election meddling by Russia.

The lawsuit is the latest step in Trump’s fightback against the Democrats, and alleges …

Again, Trump threatens to close Mexican border

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday again threatened to close part of the Southern border and send more “armed soldiers” to defend it if Mexico did not block a new caravan of migrants traveling toward the U.S.

“A very big Caravan of more than 20,000 people started up through Mexico,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“It has been reduced in size by Mexico but is still coming. Mexico must apprehend the remainder or we will be forced to close that section of the Border & call up the Military.”

Trump also said, without offering details, that Mexican soldiers recently had “pulled …

Trump to honour Woods with the Presidential Medal of Honour

A day after Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters title and 15th major tournament in a rousing resurrection of his career, President Trump said Monday he would give him an honor almost as exclusive as a green jacket from Augusta National Golf Club: the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Mr. Trump said on Twitter that he would bestow the award, without saying when. “Because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more important, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!,” Mr. Trump wrote.

Trump tax issue: US Democrats set April 23 deadline for IRS

U.S. congressional Democrats on Saturday headed for a showdown with the Internal Revenue Service over President Donald Trump’s tax returns, setting a new hard deadline of April 23 for the federal tax agency to hand the documents over to lawmakers.

In an April 13 letter that appeared to move Democrats closer to a federal court battle against the Trump administration, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal warned the IRS that failure to comply with his request for six years of Trump’s individual and business returns by April 23 would be interpreted as a denial.

Trump threatens to close border with Mexico ‘next week’

President Donald Trump on Friday again accused Mexico of failing to curb the flow of migrants illegally entering the US, and threatened to close the common border “next week” unless something changes.

Trump’s latest tweets ramp up the tension between the neighbors, putting a specific time frame to his threats to shut the border, one of the busiest in the world.

“If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop all illegal immigration coming into the United States through our Southern Border, I will be closing the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week,” he said.

“This would be so easy for …

Trump extends Liberians’ immigration protections in US

Trump last year ordered an end to Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status for Liberians, which was first granted to them during the presidency of his fellow Republican George W. Bush and enabled the immigrants to work and protected them from deportation. Advocates estimate that roughly 4,000 Liberians in the United States are protected by DED.

Trump had declared a one-year “wind-down” period, which set the final expiration date of the status as March 31. But on Thursday, Trump said he had changed his mind, winning unusual praise from some immigration advocates who have fought his policies in courts during the …

CNN Poll: Majority says Trump not exonerated of collusion

Though President Donald Trump has claimed “complete and total exoneration” based on Attorney General William Barr’s summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, the American public disagrees, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

A majority (56%) says the President and his campaign have not been exonerated of collusion, but that what they’ve heard or read about the report shows collusion could not be proven. Fewer, 43%, say Trump and his team have been exonerated of collusion.
Although Mueller could not establish Trump or his campaign “conspired or coordinated with” the

Trump changes course on Obamacare

The Trump administration is ramping up its efforts to topple Obamacare once and for all. In a dramatic reversal, the administration now says the entire Affordable Care Act should be struck down.

Previously, the Justice Department’s stance was that only portions of the law should be invalidated. A federal judge in Texas declared the entire health care law unconstitutional back in December, and now the administration says it agrees with that position as the case is appealed.

The President has repeatedly said he would protect people with pre-existing conditions — a pillar of Obamacare — but the shift in the …

Oil industry executives laughing at Trump access

Gathered for a private meeting at a beachside RitzCarlton in Southern California, the oil executives were celebrating a colleague’s sudden rise. David Bernhardt, their former lawyer, had been appointed by President Donald Trump to the powerful No. 2 spot at the Department of the Interior.

Just five months into the Trump era, the energy developers who make up the Independent Petroleum Association of America had already watched the new president order a sweeping overhaul of environmental regulations that were cutting into their bottom lines — rules concerning smog, fracking and endangered species protection.

President Trump tweets

The President found a lot to be upset about over the weekend, and he took to Twitter to make sure everyone knew.

In a long series of tweets, Trump criticized the late Sen. John McCain, mused about a government inquiry into “Saturday Night Live,” and demanded that Fox News bring back host Jeanine Pirro. Pirro, whose regular show did not air Saturday, was reportedly suspended by the network after her widely-criticized comments about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Though tweetstorms by the President are fairly commonplace now, this one stood out in stark contrast to what pretty much everyone else …
