World Bank Lied In Their Doing Business Index (DBI) Report

Stakeholders yesterday disagreed over the higher ranking of Nigeria by the World Bank in its 2020 Doing Business Index (DBI).

The global bank, in its report which was released yesterday, ranked Nigeria 131 out of 190 countries, up 15 places from 146th position last year. The report also named Nigeria as one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world for the second time in three years.

Twitter Tumbles As ‘Bugs’ Hit Their Revenue Growth

Twitter shares plunged Thursday after reporting glitches that impacted its ad-targeting ability, pulling down revenue growth in the past quarter.Profit for the third quarter was $37 million, a sharp drop from last year when the online messaging platform was helped by a large tax benefit.

Revenue rose nine percent from a year earlier to $824 million, well below analyst forecasts, impacted by what the company called “revenue product issues.”

Shares in Twitter slid as much as 20 percent in pre-market trade on the disappointing results.

The United State Agency For International Development (USAID) has restated commitment towards sustaining its support on potable water supply to Sokoto.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto by Mr Sama’ila Umar, Acting General Manager, Sokoto State Water Board.

The statement said that Mr Craig Wolf, General Councillor, USAID General Council office, Washington DC made the commitment when he visited the water board headquarters in Sokoto.

The statement quoted Wolf as saying that USAID was committed to ensuring adequate supply of safe drinking water to the people.

Four Indian in-laws were arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday, June 9, 2019, after they allegedly stabbed a man for marrying their daughter.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Imtiaz and he got married to Fatima, aged 19.
