The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Akali Baba has dissociated the National police security agency from a trending video making rounds on social media.

In a viral footage, a Chief Superintendent attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Abia State Police Command accused Fulanis of kidnapping.

IG Adamu Promotes 4,134 Traffic Warden Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has promoted 4,134 traffic warden officers to their next ranks.

Mr Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the promotion included 65 officers who were elevated to the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, 245 officers to Assistant Superintendent of Traffic II, 138 officers elevated to Senior Traffic Warden, as well as 3,683 personnel promoted to Grade I and three personnel from Grade III to Grade II.

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has been disbanded. Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police, made the announcement on Sunday afternoon.

This follows days of nationwide protest against the police operation.

Nigerians, mostly the youths, had taken to the streets of major cities to protest SARS’ brutality while the hashtag “ENDSARS” has trended for days on social media.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has banned policemen working for the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) from routine patrols.

Also affected by the ban are members of Tactical Squads of the Force including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels.

The Inspector-General of Police has dragged the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State, Abdullahi Binuyo, to a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, over alleged fraud involving $120,000.

Binuyo was charged for conspiracy, fraud, cheating and forgery in a suit numbered CR/975/2020 filed on September 9, 2020.

Rimamsomte Ezekiel, a lawyer in the Legal Prosecution Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department at the Force Headquarters alleged that Binuyo in January 2017, in Abuja, defrauded one Tunde Ajala and his company, BMA Nigeria Limited.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the posting and redeployment of senior police officers in line with the recent presidential approval for the re-organisation of the force.

The Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Mr. Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Mba said the presidential approval included the creation of an additional Department, the Directorate of Intelligence, expansion of the police zonal structure from 12 to 17, and the creation of two additional FCID annexes.
