UK, US Terror Alert: No Imminent Threat In Abuja – IGP

Against the backdrop of the recent terror alerts issued about Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Friday maintained that there is no security threat in Abuja, the nation’s capital saying there was no cause for alarm.Β 

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that on Sunday, both the US and United Kingdom had come out to issued warnings of a possible terrorist attack in Abuja, the nation’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the warnings, the attack would be especially aimed at government buildings, places of worship, schools and other centres where large crowds gather.

A man wearing a suspected hoax explosive device was shot dead by armed officers on London Bridge on Friday after what police said was a terrorist stabbing spree, reviving memories of another horrific attack two years ago that killed eight.

US President Donald Trump said in an interview posted online Tuesday that he planned to designate Mexican drug cartels as terror groups.

The move comes after Trump called for a “war” on the cartels in early November when nine women and children from a Mormon community in northern Mexico were killed in a hail of gunfire. The victims were dual US-Mexican citizens.

It was a scene of the absurd yesterday when a bad spot on the ever-busy Agege Motor Road claimed three trucks, which all fell into the vast crater on the road one after the other.
