The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi on Thursday, arrived in Japan for the final stop on her Asian tour, following a visit to Taiwan that has infuriated China.

The Taiwan Defence Ministry has on Thursday confirmed that the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had fired “several Tongfeng-class guided missiles” into the waters north-east and south-west of the island on Thursday afternoon.

A ministry spokesperson said shortly that Taiwan’s armed forces had also tracked the firings in real time after they were detected at 1:56 pm (0556 GMT) and had activated related defence systems.
