Families Of Trapped Mexican Miners Cry Out Of Desperation

The massive efforts to rescue 10 Mexican coal miners who had been trapped in a flooded deposit for over four days has ended with little progress with hopes of reaching any survivors dwindling.

This has caused an unrest among some of their relatives.

More than 300 soldiers and other personnel, including six military scuba divers, have joined the bid to free the miners in the northern state of Coahuila following Wednesday’s accident, the government said.

Hundreds of soldiers and rescuers frantically picked through the rubble of a collapsed building in southern Cambodia on Saturday looking for bodies as the death toll from the disaster rose to seven.

They used excavators, drills and power saws to clear concrete the morning after the seven-storey hotel under construction in seaside Kep province crumbled to the ground with an estimated 30 workers inside, prompting an all-night rescue.

Chile Says No Hope Of Survivors From Missing Plane

Chile confirmed Thursday that a military plane with 38 people aboard crashed in the sea, with no hope of finding survivors.

“The condition of the plane wreckage that was found makes it practically impossible that there are survivors from this air accident,” Air Force chief Arturo Merino told a news conference in the southern port of Punta Arenas.

Merino, flanked by Defense Minister Alberto Espina and other officials, confirmed reports that remains recovered from the sea were “most likely to be body parts of those traveling on the C-130.”

Survivors of the nuclear attack on Hiroshima told Pope Francis on Sunday of the “scene of hell” after the bombing, as the pontiff hit out against the use of the weapons.
