Nerves have been stretched thin in the Nigerian political sphere as the Supreme Court of Nigeria will be delivering its judgment today being the 24th of June, 2022 over theΒ legality of the controversial section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act 2022 which has been the cause of serious conflicts within Nigerian political parties and politicians.

Leaked Letter: Supreme Court Judges Urged To Form Trade Union

A leaked letter which was obtained by HURIWA have shown that some of the justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria were urged to form a trade union in response to some of their complaints of budget allocation and allowances.

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) had earlier recalled a media leak of a letter by the justices. In the leaked letter, some of the members of Nigeria’s judiciary had expressed their concerns over their budgetary allocations that have not been increased in the last four years.

More trouble may be brewing for Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, as the Supreme Court of Nigeria has revealed that there was no record of him as a lawyer in their registry.

The apex court keeps records of all certified lawyers allowed to handle cases in any Nigerian court.

Obasa’s profile on Wikipedia and the Lagos Assembly’s website describes him as a lawyer and solicitor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria even though there is no mention of where he practiced or a case he handled.
