Oyo State: Police Arrest, Detain NANS Leader, Olajuwon

Chairman of Oyo State National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asubiojo Olajuwon, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Olajuwon was said to have been arrested inside the premises of Federal Co-operative College, Eleiyele, at the weekend while holding a meeting with other executive members of the association.

One of his aides, who spoke with The Guardian, alleged that some people, who claimed to be close to Governor Seyi Makinde, led police to the school where he was holding the meeting and was subsequently arrested.

Imo State: Police Begin Search For Killers Of Bus Driver

The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Mr Rabiu Ladodo, has given assurance that the force will arrest and prosecute the killers of a bus driver in the state, Chinedu Ogoke.

The commissioner gave the assurance in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri on Monday.

Ogoke was shot and killed by gunmen last week at a popular “Malaysian market” in Obowo Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo on Oct. 9.

The gunmen stormed the “Malaysian market” located in Umungwa, Obowo LGA and dispossessed traders of their belongings, including money.

Families of Islamic State (IS) group members escaped a displacement camp in northern Syria where a Turkish offensive against Kurdish forces has sparked fierce fighting, Kurdish authorities said Sunday.

“The brutal military assault led by Turkey and its mercenaries are now taking place near a camp in Ain Issa, where there are thousands (of people) from families of IS,” the Kurdish administration said in a statement.
