FG Partners Cross River Govt Over Solid Minerals Exploitation

The federal government has called for increased partnership with the Cross River State government over developing its huge solid minerals potential.

The Minister of Solid Minerals, Sampson Ugah, made this call in Calabar, Cross River State capital during a courtesy visit to the state governor as part of his two-day working visit to the state.

He said the state is blessed with over 33 solid mineral deposits and the federal, state and local communities must work together in harnessing these deposits to shore up the nation’s revenue base.

Private School Parents Protest ₦25,000 COVID-19 Test Fees In Ogun

Parents of SS 3 students in private schools in Ogun State on Sunday protested vehemently over compulsory ₦25,000 the state government ordered them to pay to test their wards for COVID-19 before they will be allowed to resume.

The Ogun State Government had asked all SS 3 students in boarding schools in the state to undergo compulsory COVID-19 and malaria tests before resumption.

Many of the parents, who took their demonstrations to the streets, faulted the decision of the government to ask them to pay ₦25,000 on each pupil before they would be allowed to resume.

In a move to check the spread of coronavirus to Rivers State, the State Government on Wednesday announced that air, sea and land routes into the state will be closed to traffic, beginning from 6am, Thursday, March 26, 2020.

In a broadcast on Wednesday, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike said that the measure became necessary in view of recent developments.

Centenary City: Return Our Community Land – Nwobodo

Elder statesman and former Governor of Old Anambra State Chief Jim Nwobodo has waded into the controversy rocking the revocation of a vast estate, the Enugu Centenary City by the State Government.

He spoke at his country home in Amechi yesterday when members and leaders of the two communities came to inform him of their earlier peaceful demonstration in support of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s decision to revoke the land.

Italian From Milan Brings Coronavirus To Lagos

The first case of the deadly Coronavirus has been confirmed in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, the State Government confirmed early Friday morning.

It was brought in by an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of February from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit
