Airport Staff ATSSSAN Threaten Strike Over Concession Plans

The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has threatened to resist any attempt by any concessionaire from taking over the revenue points at the Lagos and Abuja airports.

A statement by ATSSSAN chairman, Ahmed Danjuma and secretary, Ogbe John, said the association was concerned over plans by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to concession the commercial park, access gates and other revenue points at the Abuja and Lagos airports.

The Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested six members of staff of the University of Ibadan over alleged examination malpractices.
The arrested staff were said to be working at the Distance Learning Centre of the institution before the Director of the centre got the information of the examination malpractices, informed the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Idowu Olayinka, who invited the operatives of DSS and handed over to them the six staff for thorough investigation and prosecution.

A logistics officer of Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) Plc, Mairiga Umar, who allegedly stole four trucks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) valued at N17.7million, was Wednesday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court I. Lagos.

Umar, 48, was arraigned by the police on a one-count charge of theft before Mrs Oluwatoyin Oghere.

Prosecuting Sergeant Modupe Olaluwoye alleged that Umar committed the offence in September 2018, at NIPCO office, Apapa, Lagos.

IGP orders probe of slain NSCDC staff

Acting Inspector-General of Police IGP Mohammed Adamu has ordered speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of an Assistant Superintendent of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogar Jumbo.

The slain officer was allegedly beaten and killed by policemen in Nyanya area of Abuja during the week.
