Spurs Lose Injured Sissoko Until April

Tottenham suffered another injury blow on Tuesday with the news that midfielder Moussa Sissoko will be sidelined until April after undergoing knee surgery.

The French international suffered medial collateral ligament damage during a 1-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day.

“Following a clinical assessment and scans, Moussa Sissoko has today undergone surgery to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee,” Tottenham said in a statement.

“Our medical staff will monitor Moussa’s recovery before he commences rehabilitation with a view to returning to training in early April.”

Sissoko will miss at least 10 Premier League matches, including clashes with …

Alli Caps Spurs Fightback To Sink Brighton

Dele Alli got Tottenham back on track as the England midfielder capped a gritty escape act with the late winner in Thursday’s 2-1 victory against Brighton.

Jose Mourinho’s side were in danger of a second successive Premier League defeat when Adam Webster headed Brighton into a shock lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Harry Kane equalised after the interval and Alli finished off a flowing Tottenham move in the closing stages to erase the bitter taste of last weekend’s acrimonious London derby loss to Chelsea.

“I’m very happy with second half. I’m not saying players were wrong but we …

Spurs Goal Proves Coutinho Settling At Bayern – Flick

Interim coach Hansi Flick says Philippe Coutinho’s first Champions League goal for Bayern Munich proved the on-loan playmaker is finally settling in.

Coutinho, 27, is attempting to reboot his career in Germany on a season-long temporary deal after a frustrating 18 months at Barcelona.

After impressing by scoring and setting up a goal against Cologne, then Paderborn in September, the Brazil attacker’s form dipped in the autumn.

He was left out of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at league leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach.

However, he showed some deadly finishing with a superb goal in Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Tottenham as Bayern became the …

Mourinho Rules Out Zlatan Signing For Spurs

Jose Mourinho says there is “no chance” of Tottenham signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the veteran forward was linked with a move to the club following his exit from LA Galaxy.

Mourinho worked with Ibrahimovic at Inter Milan and Manchester United but said signing the 38-year-old would not make sense with Harry Kane at his disposal.

“You are right about the connection, we have more than a connection,” Mourinho said when asked on Monday whether he would be trying to sign the Swede.

“I would say also passion and understanding, an amazing player and an amazing guy, but I would say …

Man City Keep Liverpool In Sights As Mourinho Lifts Spurs

Manchester City kept Premier League leaders Liverpool in their sights on Saturday after battling back to beat Chelsea as Jose Mourinho ended Tottenham’s away-day woes in his first game in charge.

Leicester saw off Brighton 2-0 to stay in second place, eight points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men, while struggling Arsenal needed a stoppage-time goal to draw 2-2 with lowly Southampton.

Liverpool’s hard-fought 2-1 win at Crystal Palace meant defending champions City went into their evening match against high-flying Chelsea 12 points behind the pacesetters.

N’Golo Kante gave the visitors a deserved lead midway through the first half at the Etihad …

Lampard Rules Out Managing Spurs After Mourinho Appointment

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says he will never follow Jose Mourinho’s lead and manage London rivals Tottenham.

Meanwhile Andre Villas-Boas, who coached both clubs, called the partnership between Mourinho and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy an “unusual marriage”.

Mauricio Pochettino was sacked this week and two-time Chelsea boss Mourinho jumped straight into the hot seat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When asked if he could ever envisage managing the north London outfit, Lampard replied: “I can firmly say ‘no’, and you can replay that again in 10 years. It wouldn’t happen but I think things are different for me.”

Lampard, who played …

‘Humble’ Mourinho Not Planning On Big Changes At Spurs

Jose Mourinho is not planning on wholesale changes as he tries to turn Tottenham’s season around and believes he is humble enough to have learned lessons from his failed spell in charge of Manchester United.

Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs boss on Wednesday after the Argentine’s five-and-a-year spell ended in the sack with Tottenham 14th in the Premier League.

The Portuguese has won 25 trophies in a storied managerial career at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and United.

However, his time in charge at Old Trafford ended in the sack 11 months ago having failed to win the …

New-Look Bayern Out To Prove Spurs Drubbing Was No Fluke

New-Look Bayern Out To Prove Spurs Drubbing Was No Fluke

Bayern Munich faces Olympiakos away in the Champions League on Tuesday with key defender Niklas Suele sidelined as Niko Kovac’s side seek to prove their demolition of Tottenham was no fluke.

The summer overhaul of Bayern’s squad bore spectacular fruit a fortnight ago in a 7-2 thrashing of Spurs as winger Serge Gnabry scored four second-half goals.

“The 7-2 was a great match, a statement, but nothing more,” insisted Bayern head coach Kovac after last season’s finalists were routed.

Now Bayern must back up the Spurs trouncing in Athens on the back of below-par performances in the Bundesliga and the …

Alli Saves Spurs From Next Defeat To Bottom Club Watford

Dele Alli struck four minutes from time to prevent Tottenham suffering another demoralising Premier League defeat, but their struggles continued in a 1-1 draw with bottom-of-the-table Watford on Saturday.

The Hornets have still not won in the league since April and will run a series of missed chances after Abdoulaye Doucoure put them in front after just six minutes.

Spurs seemed set for a third straight defeat after humiliating heavy losses to Bayern Munich and Brighton before the international break.

But a mix-up between Ben Foster and Kiko Femenia handed Alli an equaliser to at least salvage a point for …
