Anambra South Seeks To Produce Obiano’s Successor

Anambra South People’s Assembly, a social platform with the objective to unite, harness and project the interest of the constituents in the zone has called on all Anambra people to allow Governor Willie Obiano’s successor emerge from Anambra South in 2021.

The group made up of academics, technocrats, business guru and professionals including Dr E.Q. Okolie, a lawyer as chairman; Professor Donald Okoli, director of administration and Prince Isaac Onuka, executive director insisted in a statement signed by the stakeholders that equity, justice and fairness demanded that Governor Obiano’s successor must come from Anambra South to justify a zoning arrangement

South East: No PDP Gov’ll Decamp To APC – Umahi

South East chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that none of its four Governors in the region was contemplating leaving the party.

The party said such rumour was baseless and existed only in the imagination of those peddling it.

Yellow Card Turns To Six-Month Ban For South African

Cape Town City midfielder Mpho Makola has been banned for six months after shoving a referee — an offence for which he was only yellow carded.

The 33-year-old former international used both hands to push referee Abongile Tom last month after opponents Kaizer Chiefs were awarded a penalty during a League Cup match.

Although a red-card offence, Tom only cautioned out-of-control Makola, who had to be dragged away from the match official by teammates.

The Makola ban has shocked many South African football followers used to offenders receiving light sentences for serious acts of ill discipline.

Three Bodies Found After South Korean Helicopter Crash

South Korean rescuers located three bodies believed to be among seven who went missing after their chopper crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from islets disputed with Japan, officials said Saturday.
The helicopter had just picked an injured fisherman up from Dokdo, which is known as Takeshima in Japan when it went down on Thursday night.

One body was found inside the chopper located at a depth of 72 metres (240 feet), 600 metres south of the islets, while the other two were found in the water nearby, a Coast Guard representative told reporters.
