Five Perish As New Zealand Boat Collides With Whale

Five people have been reported dead after a boat had flipped over in waters off of New Zealand’s South Island on Saturday, with some alleged β€œindications” that the vessel had capsized after colliding with a whale.

The boat, which had 11 people on board who were mostly from a bird-watching group, had capsized in calm waters soon after 10 am at Goose Bay, about 15 kilometres (nine miles) south of Kaikoura, according to local officials.
