The federal government of Nigeria has commenced the implementation of its plan to deliver electricity through solar energy, to no fewer than 25 million Nigerians whose communities are currently not captured on the national power grid.

Speaking during an event to mark the commencement of the programme in Jangefe, Roni Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, reiterated the determination of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to give more Nigerians access to cheap and environmentally friendly renewable power.

EU to spend €10m for solar energy in Adamawa hospital

European Union (EU) will spend 10 million Euros (Over N4 billion) in providing solar energy
to some health facilities in Adamawa, the EU Head of Cooperation, Mr Kurt Cornelis, said.

The EU official made this known during the launch of the project in Yola on Friday.

NB pioneers solar powered brewery in Africa

Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB) and the CrossBoundary Energy, have announced the signing of Heineken’s first solar project in Africa.

CrossBoundary Energy would be installing and operating a 650 kW solar plant located at NB’s Ibadan Brewery, the solar energy plant will become operational in 2019. The project, according to the promoters, is the first of its kind for Nigeria – a fully-financed solar power purchase agreement for a major Nigerian business customer.
