The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Tuesday, urged political gladiators in the state to unite for the benefit of the entire people of the state.

A statement issued to newsmen by the Special Adviser to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, Malam Muhammad Bello, said that Abubakar made the appeal when he received Tambuwal during a courtesy visit to the Sultan in Sokoto.

Sokoto: Wike Commends Gov Tambuwal’s Victory

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the Supreme Court judgement affirming the election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.

 

The Supreme Court had struck out the appeal brought by Ahmed Aliyu of APC challenging the last governorship election in the state.

Reacting, Wike in a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Polinious Nsirim, commended the Supreme Court for allowing the will of the people to prevail.

INEC Gives Update On Sokoto Rerun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged to collaborate with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies to ensure transparency in the conduct of rerun elections in Sokoto State.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Abubakar Sadiq, stated this on Thursday at a stakeholders meeting preparatory to the election for four political seats scheduled on Jan. 25, 2020.

Sadiq said training of workers for the election had begun to ensure that they carry out their duties diligently.

The Nigerian Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) has condemned the statement by the Sultan of Sokoto wherein he was quoted to have said that “It is a lie to say Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria.”

Recall that the Christian Association of Nigeria had recently backed the inclusion of Nigeria in United States’ list of nations where religious intolerance was going on.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it is investigating an online report alleging the killing of two persons at Mabera Area of Sokoto Metropolis by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
