Smart Adeyemi Gets Dino Melaye’s Senate appointment

The Senate has appointed Sen. Smart Adeyemi (APC-Kogi West) as Chairman Senate Committee on Aviation.

Similarly, Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba (PDP-Sokoto South) was appointed Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs.

Adeyemi replaced Sen. Dino Melaye, who was head of the committee before the court upturned his election.

Melaye was defeated at the November 16 Kogi rerun election.

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, made the announcement on Friday as the chamber adjourned sitting to Jan. 28, 2020 for the Christmas and New Year break.

The newly-elected Senator Smart Adeyemi has said his defeated opponent, Dino Melaye, is his political house boy who could not manage well his earlier election into the Senate but decided to burgle it with  unnecessary exuberances.

Adeyemi while addressing  newsmen on Sunday after his victory at the poll said’ when a servant steals the garment of his master, the garment will be too big for the servant that the joy of having his master’s garment will cause the servant to misbehave to people- he ordinarily could have respected.

Melaye Faults Those Congratulating Smart Adeyemi

Senator who represented Kogi West at the eighth Senate, Dino Melaye, has berated those celebrating the electoral victory of Mr. Smart Adeyemi in last Saturday’s rerun election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Adeyemi the Senator-elect for Kogi West, having polled a total of 88,373 votes, compared to Melaye’s 62,133 votes.

But Melaye had tweeted yesterday: “Congratulating Smart Adeyemi will amount to congratulating an armed robber after successful operation.”

Kogi West: Dino Melaye Losing To Smart Adeyemi

In the result so far announced for the Kogi West Senatorial district rerun election, Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party is trailing Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress.

Out of five of the seven local governments of the zone announced so far, Adeyemi beat Melaye in three, while Melaye won in two. Adeyemi now has 48,676 votes, while Melaye has 39,189 votes.
