
Sierra Leone Set To Reverse Ban On Abortion, Gives Reasons
Sierra Leone’s government has okayed a draft law that will decriminalise abortion in a country that presently has one of the world’s highest maternal mortality rates.
President Julius Maada Bio informed the 10th Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Rights in Freetown yesterday that his government had concluded plans to unanimously back a bill on risk-free motherhood.
Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the law would guarantee the health and dignity of all girls and women of procreation age in the country, he added, after the US Supreme Court removed American women’s constitutional right to abortion.
