2020 Budget: Showdown Looms In House Of Reps

A showdown is dangling over the House of Representatives following alleged allotment of constituency projects to principal officers  in the 2020 budget besides their share of votes allocated for projects in the Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP).  

A member of the House, who declined to be named told Daily Sun that aside projects due to principal officers from ZIP, “they already have a number of projects included for them in the budget” before President Muhammadu Buhari presented estimates to a joint session of the National Assembly on October 8.

ASUU Prepares For Showdown With Government Over IPPIS

The peace in universities in the country may be disturbed as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is poised for a showdown with the federal government over the planned imposition of Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPIS) on its members.

We learnt that the leaders of the union had summoned an emergency National Executive Council where it was agreed that the leadership of the union at chapter level should begin mobilisation of members for an action against the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The present administration had reportedly directed that any worker not on the IPPIS would no longer receive salary.

The Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) yesterday appeared set for a showdown as they traded words over the sect’s planned procession scheduled to take place today.
