EFCC: We Prevented Buying, Selling Of Votes In Gombe

As the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) marks the annual Anti-Corruption Day, the Head of the Gombe Zonal Office, Mr Micheal Wetkast, has given remarks on how the Commission, he said, prevented the buying and selling of votes in the 2019 elections.

According to the zonal head of operations, the Commission had prevented the trading of votes by standing firm with its continuous campaign against vote buying and selling. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it is set to monitor Saturday’s governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi for vote buying and selling.

Spokesperson of the ICPC, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

Tanzanian apprehended for selling daughter for body parts

A Tanzanian man has been arrested for selling his six-year-old daughter to be killed so that her body parts could be used in a potion to make him rich, police said Saturday.

A police statement said that the child, Rose Japhet, was killed last week and her body found in the southwestern district of Mbeya, in a region has been hit by a spate of ritual killings of children.

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two men, Kenneth Ofeke and Stephen Obi, who sold three siblings for N500, 000 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Names of the siblings were given as Wisdom, Kenneth and Sunny.

They were said to have been taken from Edo State and sold in Port Harcourt to a woman who later resold them to other persons in Lagos State.
