The crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new dimension on Tuesday following the announcement of Arch. Waziri Bulama as the new National Secretary by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party.

The meeting of the NWC was stormy as the National Vice Chairman North East, Comrade Salihu Mustapha insisted the announcement should not be made after a motion to name Bulama was reportedly moved by the National Legal Adviser, Barrister Ogala.

Rivers: Wike Sacks Permanent Secretary

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Thursday ordered the sack of the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Lands and Survey, Dumo Jack.

This is as the governor has declared that the Real Madrid Academy in Port Harcourt has already received over 1500 applications for admission into the Academy from across the country.

The sack of Jack, brings to two the number of Permanent Secretaries that have been sacked since May 29, 2019 when Wike was sworn in for the second term in office.

Trump’s tax returns: US Treasury secretary defies congress

The United States Treasury Department informed Congress Monday it will not turn over President Donald Trump’s tax returns, according to the deadline given by the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

In a May 6 letter, Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin told House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal that he would not comply with the Democrat’s April 3 request, saying it lacks “a legitimate legislative purpose.”

The snub has left the Democrats-dominated house pondering the next step.

Unknown gunmen kidnap Permanent Secretary in Taraba

The Permanent Secretary in the Taraba State Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Susana Jonathan, has been abducted by unknown gunmen, it was learnt yesterday.

Mrs. Jonathan was allegedly abducted from her home at ATC in Jalingo, the state capital, at about 2:17am, residents told reporters.

The news came barely five days after the Deputy Registrar of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, Mr. Sanusi Sa’ad, was kidnapped in the university’s quarters, a few meters from the house of the abducted permanent secretary.

Herdsmen shot Enugu council secretary dead

Secretary of the Uzo Uwani local council in Enugu state was on Wednesday allegedly shot dead by herdsmen around Olo town in Ezeagu local council of the state.

The late secretary identified as Nnamdi Ogueche was said to have gone for a peace talk between communities and the herdsmen that have been terrorising parts of Uzo-Uwani local government area in the recent past.

It was gathered the council secretary was in company of three others in a vehicle, who were returning from the peace meeting when the alleged herdsmen attacked their vehicle.
