2023: Why We Disqualified 10 Presidential Aspirants – APC

John Oyegun, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening panel, has provided reasons why some presidential aspirants were disqualified on Friday ahead of the primaries of the party.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that no fewer than 10 individuals who were looking to contest in the ruling party’s primary have been cut off.

While presenting a report to APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, Oyegun said: ‘The point I want to make is the quality of the people that want to govern this country.

Reps Moves To Stop Post UTME/JAMB Screening

Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Wednesday during its plenary resolved to urge higher institutions in Nigeria to stop the post UTME/JAMB screening.
The lawmakers said it will also mandate its committee on Tertiary Education and Services to call for a joint meeting of the Federal Ministry of Education, JAMB and National Universities Commission to develop a unified template.

The post UTME, always paid for, has been made compulsory by various tertiary institutions for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

IOM Halts Ebola Screening After Aid Workers Killed In Sudan

The UN migration agency (IOM) has suspended Ebola screenings at five border points between South Sudan, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after three of its aid workers were killed during clashes in South Sudan.

“The IOM volunteers, one female and two males, were caught in a crossfire during clashes that broke out” in South Sudan’s Central Equatoria region, IOM said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Two other male volunteers suffered non-life threatening injuries, one of whom is recovering from a gunshot wound,” the statement added.
