Rochas Earmarks ₦1Billion For Out Of School Children

The Rochas Foundation has revealed that it has earmarked about ₦1billion to return out of school children to the classrooms, in a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Foundation says that since its establishment in 1998, it has aided in the education of over 20,000 orphans and other underprivileged Nigerians.

Director-General Ucy Okorocha told reporters in Abuja that over 5,737 students are in various schools across the country run by the Foundation.

The principal of Government Technical Secondary School located at Maraban Kajuru, Kajuru local government area of Kaduna, Mr. Francis Maji, abducted seven days ago, has been set free by his abductors.

Dapo Abiodun To Demolish Amosun’s ₦1.2b Model School

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has disclosed his plan to demolish one of the 26 model schools constructed by the administration of immediate past governor, Ibikunle Amosun, for being “structurally defective”.

The governor insisted that his administration’s decision to demolish the school located in Ilaro area was not to witch-hunt the former governor but to prevent looming disaster.

Governor Abiodun made the disclosure at a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Ogun West Senatorial District. The meeting was organised by the state government for the people of the district to contribute to the 2020 budget.

6 Dead, 59 rescued in Lagos school building collapse

Following the building collapse at Baden Private Primary School at no 10 Dagara Street, Itafaji area of Lagos Island, six persons, including a pregnant woman, have been confirmed dead, while 59 persons have been rescued alive.

The three-storey school building collapsed at about 10am, killing some pupils and trapping hundreds under the rubble. The pupils were said to be in their classrooms when the building suddenly caved in and buried them underneath.

Many of the pupils rescued by first responders were rushed to the Marina General Hospital. As expected, parents have stormed the school in search of their children.
