Fuel Scarcity: NNPC Distributes One Billion Litres PMS

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC), has revealed that it is has commenced the process of distributing one billion litres of safe Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), known as petrol, in its stock to various fuel stations nationwide to ease the scarcity of the product.

The NNPC also disclosed that about 2.3 billion litres of PMS would arrive Nigeria between now and February ending to address the current situation and restore sufficiency.

Mr. Adetunji Adeyemi, Group Executive Director, Downstream, NNPC made this disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen.

With the decision of the federal government to suspend fuel supply to filling station located within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land border, fuel scarcity has hit border towns in Katsina State, THISDAY checks have revealed.

Katsina: Residents Groan As Fuel Scarcity Hits Border Towns

Residents of border communities in Katsina State are groaning following the federal government’s suspension of fuel supply to areas within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land borders.

THISDAY investigation revealed that the federal government’s order had triggered fuel scarcity and hike in the prices of petroleum products at Jibia and Kongolam border towns between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali, had directed that no petroleum products should be supplied to any filling station within 20 kilometres to the country’s borders.
