Imo: Onwubuariri Out, As Iheanacho, Onwudiwe Scale Through

Luck has run out of the member representing Isiala-Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo federal constituency (Okigwe North), Obinna Onwubuariri following his woeful outing at the just concluded rerun election across the three LGAs last Saturday.

Our reporter who monitored the exercise witnessed what people referred to as a protest vote against the lawmaker whom they said had put up a lacklustre performance throughout his four years at the National Assembly.

The election which was keenly contested by three candidates from the PDP(Obinna Onwubuariri), APC(Princess Miriam Onuoha) and that of APGA candidate, was hitch-free as the winner emerged without recourse to malpractices or irregularities.

Small Scale Farmers Lament Lack Of Insurance Covers

The National President of Small Scale Women Farmers Organisation in Nigeria (SWOFON), Mary Afan has bewailed the inability of smallholder farmers’ to access agricultural insurance cover particularly, for women rural farmers in Nigeria.

Afan revealed this at the side line of the Validation of Community Participatory Assessment of Government Expenditure on Agriculture/Community Score Cards on Smallholder Women Farmers Access to Agricultural Insurance Services in Nigeria.

NIWA To Scale-Up Oguta River Port Project

National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has decried the level of abandonment of the Oguta river port in Osemoto, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.

Managing Director of NIWA, George Muoghalu who expressed his disappointment while on an inspection tour of the project noted that the Federal Government had spent huge sums of money on the project only for it to be abandoned.

He also expressed anger on the level of vandalisation of the project awarded in 2009 by late President Umar Yar’adua.
