Russia Ready To Cooperate On Cutting Oil – Putin

Russia is ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia and the United States to cut oil production, President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

Putin said Russia was willing to make agreements within the framework of the OPEC+ group and that “we are ready for cooperation with the United States of America on this issue,” according to a statement published by the Kremlin.

“I believe that it is necessary to combine efforts in order to balance the market and reduce production.”

Twitter Removes Numerous Accounts Linked To Saudi, Egypt

Twitter has removed thousands of accounts linked to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and several other countries for either taking directions from the governments or promoting pro-government content.

The social media giant said in a post on its platform on Thursday that it had taken down 2,541 accounts in the Egypt-based El Fagr network because it created “inauthentic accounts to amplify messaging critical of Iran, Qatar and Turkey”.

“Information we gained externally indicates it was taking direction from the Egyptian government,” Twitter said.

Oil Rockets As Trump Signals End To Price War

Oil prices rocketed Thursday, posting the largeset percent increase ever, after US President Donald Trump said Russia and Saudi Arabia planned to end their price war by slashing output.

But the initial surge cooled after Russia denied it had spoken with Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest exporter of crude.

After Trump tweeted that Saudi and Russia could slash production by up to 15 million barrels, Brent hit $36.29 a barrel, up almost 46 percent, and West Texas Intermediate soared around 35 percent to $27.39.

Coronavirus: UAE, Saudi Arabia Take Drastic Steps

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have ramped up measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

While the Saudis slammed a 21-day curfew, the UAE suspended all flights.

The UAE said on Monday that all passenger flights to the country would be suspended for two weeks. The decision will take effect within 48 hours.

According to the official WAM news agency, cargo and emergency evacuation flights are exempted.

The UAE’s Health and Emergency authorities said that commercial centres and shopping malls, along with fish, meat and vegetables markets would be closed within 48 hours for two weeks.

Saudi Arabia Announces Sporting Mega-Event

Saudi Arabia said Wednesday it will hold its biggest sporting event next month, with 6,000 athletes expected to participate, the latest extravaganza in a push to soften its ultra-conservative image.

The “Saudi Games” will be held in Riyadh between March 23 and April 1 and will feature 40 sports — including swimming, athletics, archery, badminton and basketball — that will be open to men and women, officials said.
