Iran Dedicates ‘World Sacrifice Prize’ To Slain Soleimani

Members of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, on Wednesday decided to introduce the `World Sacrifice Prize’, which will be dedicated to the slain Major General Qasem Soleimani.

Speaking at the meeting, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani stated that the number of people present at the funeral procession of the assassinated general underscored that the U.S. had failed in its attempts to create a division in Iran and Iraq, NAN reports.

“Martyr Soleimani was a very respectful person who did not abandon his services to the Revolution and the society,’’

Akeredolu: We Won’t Sacrifice Tradition For Politics

The Ondo State governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu yesterday said the people’s tradition would not be violated for political expediency.

The governor, who promised that he would continue to support all practices and traditional norms reiterated his administration’s commitment to non-interference in any transparent process of selection of traditional rulers in the state.
The governor stated this at Owo while presenting the staff of office to the new Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.

Six Months Of Sacrifice: Hong Kong’s Protesters Take Stock

Some of them have lost their jobs, suffered life-changing injuries and even fled overseas. But six months into Hong Kong’s demonstrations, pro-democracy protesters say they aren’t backing down.

The unprecedented movement was born on June 9, when an estimated million people took to the streets to protest a proposed bill allowing extradition to mainland China.

With Beijing taking a hard line, it has since broadened into a call to halt authoritarian China’s attempts to erode freedoms in the city.

Six months on, the Beijing-backed government has offered few concessions and protests have turned increasingly violent, exacting a heavy toll.
