Oyo CP To Take Actions Over Return Of Sacked LG Chair

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has directed the Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Mr. Shina Olukolu, to take actions to implement the legal opinion of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on the sacked local government chairmen in the state.

The IG in a letter obtained by THISDAY on Saturday and addressed to Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshiloye, Chairman of the dissolved Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), urged the sacked ALGON Chairman to liaise with the CP to facilitate smooth take over of the Local Government Areas in the state.

Ifeanyi Ubah says he has not been sacked as the lawmaker representing Anambra South senatorial district.

Ubah, in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja, on Friday, said the FCT Court only refused to vacate its earlier ruling, which had since been faulted on the grounds of jurisdiction.

 

He explained that Justice Bello Kawu ruled on an application to vacate an earlier judgement of the court on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction and asked the parties to proceed to the Appeal Court.

Oyo: Sacked LG Chairmen Dare Seyi Makinde

Local government chairmen who were sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State under the umbrella of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) have warned the newly inaugurated Local Council chairmen in the state against engaging in any transaction on behalf of their respective councils.

Sharia: Why CJN Muhammad Should Be Sacked – Christian Group

The Nigeria Christian Graduate, NCG, fellowship has condemned the call by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Tanko Muhammad for a constitutional amendment to allow for the integration of Sharia law.

NCG called on the National Judicial Council, NJC, to apply appropriate sanctions against the CJN for making such call.

C’River: 500 Sacked Teachers Occupy Gov’t House With Mats

Determined to fight against their sack, 500 science teachers have again barricaded the government house with mats and wrappers demanding their reinstatement into the service.
Penultimate Tuesday the workers had protested against government’s removal of their names from payroll since September.
The teachers, who carried various placards such as “reinstate our names into pay roll;” “pay us our September and October salaries,” prevented movements in and out of the governor’s office.
At the governor’s office, the protesters were seen with wrappers and mats which they spread on the ground to prevent movements in an out of the office.

Sacked Ekiti workers protest, beg Fayemi for re-absorption

Some workers recently disengaged by the Ekiti State government for being  ‘irregular workers’,  yesterday   staged a peaceful protest to appeal to Governor Kayode Fayemi to reverse  the decision.

  The Nation gathered that among the protesters were the 568 primary and secondary school teachers recruited into Teaching Service Commission (TSC) by ex-governor Ayodele Fayose. They are among the 2,000 state workers employed after the July 14, 2018 election.

The protesters stormed the Teaching Service Commission located within the State Secretariat complex at about 8.30am with their letters of appointments to show that they were legitimately hired.

2,000 workers sacked in Ekiti height of wickedness – Fayose

Former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, has described the revocation by Gov. Kayode Fayemi, of appointment of 2,000 workers by him shortly before leaving office, as “height of wickedness and political vendetta.”

Fayose called on all the affected civil servants not to be disillusioned, but to approach the court to challenge the State Government’s decision.
