Ronaldinho Released From Paraguay Prison

Brazilian football legend, Ronaldinho and his brother, Roberto Assis, have been released from prison in Paraguay.

He was released after serving 32 days despite facing a six-month sentence over alleged fake passports.

The Brazilian football legend is now placed in house arrest due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak which has claimed for more than 82000 lives worldwide.

The 40-year-old reportedly paid a £1.3million bond after he, along with his brother, were charged with entering the South American country with fake passports last month.

Samuel Eto’o posted an emotional birthday message to Ronaldinho as the Brazilian football legend spent his 40th birthday in a Paraguayan jail.

Ronaldinho was arrested this month in Paraguay after allegedly producing a false passport to enter the country and has been held behind bars pending a court case that has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho did not deliberately use a fake passport and should be released by authorities in Paraguay, his lawyer said.

The two-time world player of the year and his brother Roberto, who was detained with him, spent their third night behind bars in the capital Asuncion on Sunday after using forged travel documents to enter the country.

Their Brazilian lawyer Sergio Queiroz said he would ask for the pair to be released and allowed to return to their home country when they next appear before a judge on Monday.
