Hoodlums Invade Benin City – Residents Lament

Violent crimes and robbery have assumed frightening dimension in Benin City, the Edo State capital, since hoodlums in the guise of #EndSARS protest broke into the two correctional centres in the city and set free over 1,900 inmates, including 120 condemned criminals.

It has become complaint galore day and night as individuals, hotels, guesthouses and business centres have become targets, with the latest robbery incident at a guesthouse less than 500 metres from the entrance gate of Edo State Government House.

Police Deny Robbery Attempt At CBN In Benin

The Edo Police Command has denied reports of a robbery attempts at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Benin.

DCP Ayoola Ajala, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, said that it was not true that there was a robbery attempt at the bank.

He said that the incident had to do with some cultists who were being chased around the Museum area of the city and trying to escape through Akpakpava road where the CBN is situated.

Police Nab 5 Over Alleged Kidnapping And Robbery In Niger

The Police in Niger have arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in Rafi and Mariga local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Usman Adamu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday.

Usman said on Oct. 18, one Alhaji  Ibrahim Garkuwa of Tashan Kare reported at Kagara Police Division that some hoodlums who were armed with machete, stick and dressed in female Hijab (Muslim females gown) and face mask, invaded his house at Tashan Kare.
