Rivers Monarch Advises Against Recruitment Of Non Indigenes

The paramount ruler of Akpor Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Anele Orlu-Oriebe,  has directed that those who must be recruited into any local vigilance group in the kingdom must be indigenes of the area.
Orlu-Oriebe gave the directives yesterday, when  hundreds of residents of Rumuekini community, especially residents of Akas Avenue, in the kingdom, staged a peaceful
protest over alleged rumours of redeploying some members of the local vigilance group known as ONELGA Special Peace and Advisory Committee, who were recently deployed in the area.

Rivers Govt Accredits 1,415 Private Schools

In line with Rivers State Government’s desire to establish a formidable educational sector at the public and private institutions, the Committee for Accreditation and Approval of Private Schools setup by the Governor Nyesom Wike has submitted a comprehensive report to the state government.

While receiving the report, Wike said he was concerned and committed to ensuring that private schools are of approved standard with right facilities.

Rivers State Begins Payment Of ₦15,000 To Corpers

Rivers State government have started paying Corps Members posted to the state ₦15,000, Nyscinfo.com correspondent, Comrade Nnadi Goodluck reports.

The Corps Member serving in the Public sector of the state are paid ₦15,000, whilst those serving in the private are paid ₦10,000.

With this update, Rivers State has overtaken Anambra State as the highest paying state for Corps Members.

Recall that last week, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, announced that he has released the sum of ₦132million for the payment of Corps Members allowances.

Pirates Kill Two, Injure Several Others In Rivers

Sea pirates have killed two persons and injured several others in an attack on seven boats travelling from Bille, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, to Port Harcourt.
The seven boats were said to be travelling in a convoy on Saturday to Port Harcourt for a church programme when the hoodlums attacked them.

The Guardian gathered that the pirates operated freely for about five hours on the high sea without restrictions.

It was learnt that the bandits carted away all the belongings of the travellers, took their boats and abandoned them at the mangrove.

Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike Sunday said the organisers of #RevolutionNow are not allowed to hold any anti-government protest in the state.

“Rivers State does not subscribe to what the RevolutionNow protest represents and Rivers State is not part of the protest,” Wike said in a statement.
