Rivers Govt Warns Against Plans To Exhume Buried COVID-19 Bodies

The Rivers State Government has issued a strong warning to those attempting to invade the Port Harcourt cemetery to exhume bodies of their loved ones to have a re-think.

Reports emerged late Friday that the remains of the late Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local government area of Rivers State, Odiari Princewill who died of coronavirus, was exhumed.

It was gathered that Late Princewill’s body was exhumed by gunmen suspected to be natives of Buguma, his hometown.

Manager Of Demolished Hotel Among New Cases Of COVID-19 – Rivers

The Manager of one of the 2 hotels demolished by Governor Nyesom Wike has tested positive for COVID-19.

This is according to the Rivers State government in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim.

Nsirim stated that the Manager of Prodest Hotel, Bariledum Azoroh is among the 27 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the State on Sunday.

Vehicles Impounded During Lockdown Will Be Sold – Wike

The Rivers State government has said all cars impounded during the lockdown in the state will be auctioned to members of the public.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim said the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice have been directed to auction all the vehicles that violated the lockdown order.

Nsirim in a statement said members of the public who are interested in buying the auctioned vehicles should watch-out for advertorials on National dailies.

Wike Dares Buhari, Shuts Down Carveton Helicopters

The Rivers State Government has shut down Carveton Helicopters in the state for endangering the lives of Rivers people over what it tagged as “suspicious operation of the company in the state.”

Governor Nyesom Wike in a media address directed local government council chairmen to close the offices of Carveton Helicopters across the state.

Governor Wike said his administration appreciates the need to protect business interests and operations in the state and he will do whatever that is required to ensure that no business is unduly affected by the measures the state has taken to combat the Coronavirus.
