Banky W Declared Winner Of PDP Primary Rerun In Lagos

Nigerian pop star, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, was on Monday declared the winner of the PDP primary rerun for the Eti-Osa constituency House of Representatives ticket in the 2023 general election after last week’s overturning of his victory.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Banky W recorded a landslide victory, polling 24 votes out of 29 votes cast by delegates at the primary rerun held in Lagos on Monday.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs , Senator Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from the ongoing rerun election in Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

Six National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members have been abducted and elections materials meant for Afafanyi and Igbonigoni House of Assembly re-run elections hijacked mid-sea along Etighidi River in Cross River State.

Imo Police Beef Up Security Ahead Saturday’s Rerun

The Imo State Police Command has assured of its preparedness for Saturday’s election rerun in Okigwe North, Orlu Federal Constituency and Njaba State Assembly.

The new Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Mobolaji Olaniti Fafowora in his maiden press briefing yesterday, stated that the command will work in synergy with other security agencies including the DSS and the Civil Defense Corps to record a hitch free exercise.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini, would not be fair to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the senatorial rerun.

INEC Gives Update On Sokoto Rerun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged to collaborate with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies to ensure transparency in the conduct of rerun elections in Sokoto State.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Abubakar Sadiq, stated this on Thursday at a stakeholders meeting preparatory to the election for four political seats scheduled on Jan. 25, 2020.
