Buhari Reportedly Summons Fayemi, Makinde, Abiodun

Report reaching NAN from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital indicates that President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the six governors from the South West region to a meeting at Aso Rock.

NAN gathered that the summon is connected with the launch of a new security outfit code-named Amotekun by the six governors.

It was gathered that the six governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) had last year agreed to establish a security outfit that will put a stop to the insecurity situation in the region.

Kuwait’s Defense Minister on Wednesday said it has received a letter from the Commander-in-Chief of a U.S. military camp in Kuwait “declaring imminent withdrawal of all U.S. military forces in three days,”

The state news agency, KUNA quoted the minister as saying, “Receiving such [a] letter from Camp Arifjan was unexpected and we are communicating with U.S. Department of Defense for more details and information.”

But, Kuwait’s government in reaction said that a Wednesday report of a U.S. troop withdrawal is incorrect and that the state news agency was hacked.

French Steeplechaser Reportedly Fails Doping Test

French 3,000m steeplechase specialist Ophelie Claude-Boxberger has tested positive for EPO, a source close to the case said on Tuesday.

This is third doping case in French athletics in less than a year.

Paris’ Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed it had opened a “preliminary investigation on 14 October into offences under anti-doping and poisonous substances legislation” following a report from the French anti-doping agency (AFLD).
